Professional Supervision

'Supervision' is a process of facilitating individual learning.
Professional Supervision is defined as:-
"...a working alliance between professionals where supervisees offer an account of their work, reflect on it, receive feedback and guidance (if appropriate), with the objective being to enable the 'supervisees' to gain in ethical competency, confidence and creativity so as to give the best possible service to their clients."
(Inskipp & Proctor, 1993)
The concept originates in the caring, counselling and therapeutic professions and is considered necessary for practitioners to ensure healthy professional development and efficient servicing of clients
