Successful Career Development Project with PMI
CareerVision have just completed an exciting career development initiative with members of the PMI Ireland Chapter. This innovative programme emerged from a proactive PMI / CareerVision partnership, where PMI’s interest was to offer expert assistance to their members in advancing their careers towards the most personally profitable outcomes. CareerVision’s role was to provide this high quality career professionalism, delivering specialist career management approaches that would equip members with the most effective career tools & techniques to help them most successfully navigate today’s career market.
Michael Cresswell (PMP), of PMI, very successfully managed the internal marketing and logistics planning for the programme. He found that uptake on the limited places from within the Institute was extremely swift, both from employed and unemployed members who where considering their next career moves. Within no time at all, the twenty participants were organised to commence their own personal career development experience.
Adam Challen, of Eircom, kindly arranged the availability of fantastic meeting rooms at the Eircom office building near Heuston to provide an excellent venue.
The 3 days of the programme were spaced out over 2 weeks, giving participants the opportunity to digest learning and implement recommended market approaches. All parties even gave of their weekend time, to attend 2 Saturday sessions. The outline of the programme was as follows:-
Day 1 –Defining Career Direction
• Collecting and analyzing CORE data to identify/prioritise career options
Day 2– Packaging your Offer
• Constructing your profile, STAR qualities and marketing materials
Day 3–Convincing the Market
• Energising your network, succeeding at interview and supporting action
Cathy Buffini, of CareerVision, did a fantastic job on facilitating the programme for the 3 days, and participants complimented her on an “extremely flexible and expert delivery, across a diverse group”
Michael thanked CareerVision, on behalf of the Ireland Chapter of PMI on running a “terrific course - tt was exactly as I had hoped--something for everyone, a great overview of career development areas to work on, from which we all extracted significant value. I've gotten nothing but positive feedback from participants”. Michael also hopes that this will lead on to CareerVision’s provision of future career development events and supports within PMI.
