Do I search for comparable salaries or comparable job titles?

I'm working in the PR industry in Ireland, but may have to consider moving to London. I don't really know what to expect or what level to pitch myself at if I move there. It's a much bigger industry, so I don't think I would be as senior there as I am here. Should I search for jobs at a comparable salary to what I earn here, or a comparable title?

You should probably search for jobs which have a role content similar to that you have right now.

This will mean you’ll be well able to sell yourself into the role and have highest possibility of securing it. Role title is less important, as in a bigger industry you’ll have more layers, so role responsibilities are most key.

Salaries in London are similar to Ireland within this field, provided the activity in the job is the same. Look at the UK jobs websites, and review the roles available to see how/if they match what you do at the moment. Keep an eye on them over a month or so to see what comes up and get yourself a feel for the market, before you apply for any. That way you’ll be most sure you’re going for the roles you’re most likely to get and be comfortable in.
