Breaking into the Teaching Profession

I am just finished a 3 year degree in Arts having got my honours degree in Geography and Irish. I was wondering could you give me any advice on how I could improve my chances of getting into National or Secondary Education. I'm between 2 minds. Would subbing be any benefit ?

You need to do the HDip in Education to work in a secondary school, which alongside your degree should mean you can go for a permanent position. Subbing would help you to convert a permanent position when one comes up. For primary teaching, you can do an HDip for primary teaching via Hibernia College in Dublin, or through other major providers (TCD, DCU etc). You must have these to be considered for teaching positions. Also your degree being in Irish will also help.
